Peck and Palicki Join Red Dawn Remake

Red Dawn (Remake 2010) Movie — By Nix on June 17, 2009 |

Okay, so by now you probably already know that Chris Hemsworth, the latest member of the Australian Invasion Force is primed to not only to play the lead in “Thor”, but also the lead in the “Red Dawn” remake, taking over the role originally played by Patrick Swayze. In the remake, Hemsworth’s character Jed Eckhert will be an Iraqi War vet and Marine who is on leave when the invasion by the Chinese and Russians begin. So who else is in the remake? Read on.

These casting news comes courtesy of EW, who tells us that the Charlie Sheen role, Matt Eckhert, brother of Jed, will be played by Josh Peck. If you don’t know the name, then you don’t watch Nickelodeon. I have nephews who watch the channel religiously, and so I know Peck from his days on Nickelodeon’s “Drake and Josh” show, where Peck played the fat schlubby brother to Drake’s skinny “everyone loves him cause he’s handsome” character. Matt is the high school star quarterback in the remake. Yup, Josh is all grown up and no longer the fat brother.

The Jennifer Grey role, Toni Mason, will now be played by Friday Night Lights’ Adrianne Palicki (below). The character will also be a love interest for Marine Jed Eckhert. Still uncast — Erica the Asian-American cheerleader and Danny the African-American star running back.

Former stunt coordinator and second-unit director Dan Bradley will be making his directorial debut from a script by Carl Ellsworth. The duo are envisioning the remake as a gritty, realistic war movie, something Bradley is probably used to, having previously worked on “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Quantum of Solace”. Well, okay, as realistic as you can get with Chinese and Russians invading the U.S., I guess.

Peck was not on Disney Channel, it was Nickelodeon, and he is a great comedic actor. Looking forward to seeing him serious!

  • Nix says:

    You are correct, sir.

NOT SURE ABOUT JED BEING A MARINE. ALL THE CHARACTERS WERE AVERAGE AMERICAN KIDS. THAT’S THE BEAUTY OF THE ORIGINAL.

I love how the gen y bunch has decided to take an American “can do it” movie and make it PC.

Asian- american cheerleader? African american star footballer? Give me a friggin break.

This is from an actual DoD scenario. The chinese dont really have this much in it. They had been incinerated from the getgo by russia. this was STRICTLY USSR and south/central american cannon fodder.

God hollywood is so forked up!

Gotta agree, I was kind of excited about this thing until all of the multicultural BS came into play. We get it Hollywood, nothing can be accomplished without contributions from every race color and creed…yuck. Let me guess, the black guy has an attitude, the Asian is smart yet dangerous, and the white guy is a racist with a lesson to learn. Go screw yourselves.

Let me guess, Robert, the RPG weilding badass is now Roberto. Switchblade swinging puerto rican. Hollywood, you suck.
Why is jed a marine? I think army would make more sense, as thier deployments are longer.

Honestly, I doubt most kids in my generation would oppose a socialist takeover, let alone be capable, resourceful, fit or intelligent enough to fight it off. P*ssies.

RUSSIA. CHINA. Give me a break! This isn’t the way to go if you want it to be up to date. Take another look at America’s current situation in the world, and the technology available today.
There shouldn’t be a REMAKE. It should be a different movie completely, because that’s what it is. Way to say it, Turnbone!

  • Charles says:

You said African american and asain american? I remeber the charcter but not like that. Why would they screw it uo like that? I mean a remake is bad enough but it would be cool to see it more modern i guess but to change charectors…..

  • Jeffe! says:

They are filming this in our town right now in Michigan.. 30 min north of detroit.

  • Jed says:

Jed here, just want to let yall know that when they filmed the original movie, they trained the kids out in the wild, in the same hills where they shot the movie. The kids had months of camping, combat training, and working together as a team. Can you see that happening with this one?

No one support the film by not going to watch it at the movie theaters! Make this shitty director, who has to make his debut with a remake, go broke! Screw him and all the other foolish and greedy enough to make easy money ripping off original movies. Stop ripping off the originals, Hollywood! There is a limit to how much people can take your crap!
