It remains to be seen if this whole suddenly “in” trend of “alien invasion” movies is going to last in Hollywood, but until that time comes, here’s news regarding Peter Berg’s $200-million plus “Battleship”, which has added supermodel Brooklyn Decker (below) to its cast.
Decker, who recently lost out on the eye candy role in Michael Bay’s “Transformers 3” to fellow Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, joins a “Battleship” cast that includes leading men Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard, playing Naval brothers, and R&B singer Rihanna.
Decker will be playing the love interest of Taylor Kitsch, which essentially makes her the film’s female lead, in so much as a film like “Battleship”, with its set-on-the-seas alien invasion premise, needs a female lead.
“Battleship” is currently going through a draft by writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien, and is set to debut on May 18, 2012 as one of Universal’s expensive tent-pole films.
Other alien invasion movies scheduled to invade theaters in the next few years include: the L.A.-set movies “Battle: Los Angeles” and “Skyline”, the Russia-set “The Darkest Hour”, the Mexico-set “Monsters”, and of course, Berg’s sea-set “Battleship”.
