Jim Carrey became a household name through his portrayals of several iconic characters (Fire Marshall Bill, Ace Ventura, the Mask, Lloyd Christmas, the Cable Guy, and Andy Kaufman, to name a few). It is hard to say which one was his best, or even most famous; each character belongs in a world unto its own.

While fans of Carrey’s work will debate his best character until the end of time, at least they can agree on one point: not since his career-defining role as the Riddler (still the most despicable Oscar snub in the history of the Academy) in 1995’s “Batman Forever” has a performance by Jim Carrey in a bandit mask been so heavily anticipated as his upcoming portrayal of Colonel Stars in “Kick-Ass 2.”

Carrey will be playing Sal Bertolinni, whose alter ego is known as Colonel Stars. A little background info on the Colonel, via kick-ass.wikia.com:

Sal started out as a soldier for the Genovese crime family, working alongside his brother Lieutenant Stripes. Then at some point, both brothers found religion and decided to repent for their crimes. Inspired by Kick-Ass, they formed the Justice Forever team and set out to clean up the city as superheroes.

As an extra bonus, the set photos also include a good look at Lindy Booth as Night Bitch, and Robert Emms as Insect Man- both member’s of Justice Forever.

What do you think? Costumed vigilante who could kick some serious ass? Edward Nigma after his 3rd tour of Afghanistan? And just for fun- which role do you think was Carrey’s best?

Jim looks buffed up. I wonder if he turned the weight gained after his Curly stint into muscle? He looks badass with a touch of Riddle on the side.
