Marvel’s Comic Con Panels for Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America 2, Thor 2

Two questions: When did “Gladiator’s” Djimon Hounsou get cast in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” and why is Karen Gillan bald?

The first answer is, well, recently, I guess. Hounsou is playing a character name Koranth, and for he second answer, Gillan is bald for her role. What role would require a shaved head? That would be Nebula, now confirmed in the panel B-roll below.

In any case, one of the most anticipated panels at Comic Con was, of course, Marvel’s. Besides announcing the title of Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” sequel (Whedon himself showed up, as you can see from the pics below), they also hosted the cast and crew of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. I don’t think the guys from “Thor: The Dark World” showed up, though there was a semi-panel for it with Tom Hiddleston suited up as Loki. At least, that’s what I gathered from the pics and B-roll videos Marvel/Disney have released.

Both “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” arrive in 2014. “Thor: The Dark World” opens later this year.

Why is Marvel better than DC? Because of it’s actors. Because of their love and committal to their characters and fans. Would Michael Shannon have rocked up to Comic Con as Zod? Not likely. Would Christian Bale have have as Batman? No, he wouldn’t. Would Heath Ledger have gone as the Joker? Yes, he probably would’ve and it would’ve been awesome. Point is, here’s an amazing actor who loves his character, his fans, the studio, the films, who is currently filming another movie, but still gets time out to get wrapped neck to toe in a leather outfit and make a 2 minute appearance at Comic Con. I hope DC can get on their level, I sincerely do, because It’d be fucking amazingly spectacular to have a Justice League panel in 2017 with the cast decked out in supersuits. But comparatively, and unfortunately, DC really sucks.
