These days there’s not a whole lot of originality left anymore in action movies, even less in the spy genre. You got your ex-cops, your ex-CIAs, your ex-assassins trying to live a normal live but people keep pulling them back in. Such is life for Pierce Brosnan’s character in Roger Ronaldson’s “The November Man.” You won’t be surprised to learn that he is, indeed, an ex-CIA killer who has to come back in when bad guys intrude on his retirement. I suspect there will be conspiracies and betrayals and backstabbings galore as our hero fights his way to the truth.
The flick co-stars former James Bond himself Brosnan and Olga Kurylenko, who once co-starred in a James Bond movie with some other guy playing Bond.
Code named ‘The November Man’, Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is a lethal and highly trained ex-CIA agent, who has been enjoying a quiet life in Switzerland. When Devereaux is lured out of retirement for one last mission, he must protect valuable witness, Alice Fournier, (Olga Kurylenko). He soon uncovers this assignment marks him a target of his former friend and CIA protégé David Mason (Luke Bracey). With growing suspicions of a mole in the agency, there is no one Devereaux can trust, no rules and no holds barred.
Starring Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey, Olga Kurylenko, Eliza Taylor, Caterina Scorsone with Bill Smitrovich and Will Patton.
Ex-Bond fights back this August 27.
