“Devil” co-writer/director John Erick Dowdle has already found his leading man in Owen Wilson, stepping back into the straight-up action game after a long absence (he last shot’em up on the big screen in 2001’s “Behind Enemy Lines”), but now he needs a villain. That man would be Pierce Brosnan.
Or at least, I’m assuming Brosnan is playing the villain in “The Coup”, as he’s described as starring “opposite” Wilson. And if Wilson is the hero, the head of an American family caught up in Southeast Asia shenanigans, then the guy opposing him would be the bad guy, right?
Dowdle will direct the film, based on a script he co-wrote with his bro Drew.
In the film, an American family find themselves entangled in a violent coup in which merciless rebels attack the Southeast Asian city they’ve just moved to. Another nightmare moving day story. Am I right?
“The Coup” will shoot this October.
