Word from Heat Vision is that the “Taken” director has “presented” his version of “Quija” to Universal, and will now be waiting to hear back from the suits to learn if he’s gotten the gig or not. He’s currently battling with fellow directors Sylvain White, Scot Stewart and John Moore for the job.
But if Morel doesn’t land the work, he’s also in the running to direct Sam Raimi’s alien invasion movie “EDF” (“Earth Defense Force”), which sounds a hell of a lot better than an action-adventure movie based on a board game, but maybe that’s just me. I mean, here’s the plot of “EDF”:
The story is set after three alien fighters attack the planet, leaving countries humiliated. The governments of Earth then race to create a space fighting force in preparation for a second attack by an approaching alien horde.
Sounds better than some board game movie, right?
But if Morel doesn’t get either “Quija” or “EDF”, there’s always “Taken 2” still waiting in the horizon. I’m sure Luc Besson is crossing his fingers hoping Morel doesn’t get either gig. Whater happens, though, Morel is going to be pretty busy for the next few years.
