Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Gets a Strange Title. Plus, Tides.

For those of you dying to know what the new title of the “Pirates 4″ movie is, you don’t have to wait any longer. According to HitFix, Disney revealed the title at the D23 Expo: “On Stranger Tides”. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” to be exact. And as you can see from the title treatment below, the film is due out in the Summer of 2011.
As previously reported, “Chicago” director Rob Marshall will be stepping behind the camera for the fourth “Pirates” movie, replacing Gore Verbinski, who had previously left the project to pursue other ventures. Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow, and according to rumors, the plot has Jack pursuing the mythical Fountain of Youth and facing steampunk-powered villains.
Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, the other two stars from the previous three films, will be no-shows. This will be entirely Jack Sparrow’s adventures.
According to the LATimes, Jack Sparrow himself showed up at the D23 Expo in full costume, but the newspaper calls the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: In Strange Waters”. As you can see from the title treatment below, it says “On Stranger Tides”. Weird.

Anyone know if Geoffrey Rush is returning as Barbossa? I’m super curious!
I heard, more like read, that Geoffrey Rush will be returning
as the ever so awesome Barbossa. Um… in case you wanted to know more, they were
saying that Barbossa and Sparrow were to be going to the Fountain of
Youth together. :/ Not much I know, but yeah… hope I helped.
I had heard similar things. And that their not-so-friendly feud would continue. The idea of Steampunk villains makes me very curios as to see exactly how’d that fit. I understand not wanting to tread the same waters ([un completely intended) but I wonder where this will lead. I’m just happy Barbossa is back. I don’t think I realized how much I liked him until he returned at the end of Pirates 2.
i can’t wait till the movie comes out im so excited but i would love to see keira knighlt and orlando bloom in the new movie.
i love the idea that it would be jack sparrows adventures, i just can not wait i have all three movies and i will get the on stanger tides when it comes out on dvd.
