If the boys over at AICN are correct, it looks like 2011 may be the year of Disney, because the company has a ton of anticipated movies launching, all in the same year. One of them is the fourth installment of the wildly popular “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, which is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release. More theories about the film’s plot below.

In regards to PIRATES, two dramatically conflicting assessments about how a fourth film might be approached have been making the rounds.
Some indications suggest the film’s story would be far more contained than its predecessors, allowing for a budget-friendly downsizing.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s been unsubstantiated talk that a fourth film would go the other way completely…think in terms of ultra fantastical (dinosaurs, Jules Verne-esque floating fortresses, etc.)
I don’t see them going small with this thing, at least not if they want to keep their audience. Come big or don’t come at all, I say.
And besides Jack Sparrow, will the others come back, too? Since the film is still 3 years away, we’ll just have to wait and see…

I think it’d be a good and a bad thing. Cool because they’re good movies. Bad, because POTC is getting old.

Ok you know what, the POTC movies are AWSOME!!! and i think they SHOULD make another one, if u have a problem with a 4th one…DON’T GO SEE IT!!! Gosh ppl, i would die with out another one….and Orlando Bloom…he is sooooo HOT & SEXY!!! So shutup…and i can’T WIAT!!!! O YEAH!!! ANOTHER 1!!! YES!!!

maybe if there’s more after Twilight.. there’ll be more after it (the books ROCK)
(oh yeah, there’s this HUGE thing between Twilight and Harry Potter… its funny… one is teen film, other is for the general.. vampires… magic… but going back to the subject…….)

Actually, the twilight books suck.
I AGREE ABOUT THE BLOOM DEAL. i love him alot. i cried like a maniac… or like a mother losing her child when he got stabbed in the 3rd movie… im not kidding. but um i hope hes in it… i really do. i do agree that its a risk to make a 4th but id see it anyways because potc is like apart of my life… like eating breathing sleeping. potc is another necessity that i would be no one with out.. however it is depressing that orlando will more than likely not be in the 4th… however rumors for the past 2 years say that miseur depp has signed on for 3 more installments… they wont be “pirates of the caribbean” add ons however… more like a separate story for Jack… however in the nifty hand out disney gave answering “FAQ” in the DVD they said and i quote “will and elizabeths story however is far from ending” soooo. that means that even though will and elizabeth may not be in the 4th… if they do make a 5th or 6th there is a possibility that orlando and keira will agree… seeing as keira is already considering doing the 4th because of how many movie opportunities shes had in the 2 years since, atonement the duchess the edge of love shell be doing my fair lady soon and all that jazz. her reason for not wanting to continue was “i dont want these movies to be the only thing im known for” and im sure seeing as her career sises to end…she will be up for doing the film come production time. orlando on the other hand…. im not sure if we will be seeing him much in the film industry anymore. with his new found love who he has now been dating for a year and a month, miranda kerr-BLECH, better than bosworth though… still wish it were me =]- im sure they will get married and he wants kids. time to settle down. and he likes doing the charity scene so i doubt that many more big hits are in his future unfortunetly. but if he is in the movies it will be a cameo for the slimly possible 5th and/or 6th movie…. but who knows. only time will tell. i know the movies too well and i doubt there is anyway to get around the fact that will and elizabeth are only going to see each other 6 times through the duration of elizabeths life… if jack finds the fountain of youth im pretty sure hell come track down elizabeth in which case he will run into barbossa and there is a completely different story that can happen there. there are so many possibilities and so many stories to be told. i dont think disney or anyone realized how far you could truly go with these films until the third ended… and the story could still continue. heck i could probably write a summary of a story that could be done in two movies and it would be over and done with. but i doubt disney would listen to my advice seeing as i am an “amateur” to the film industry as it were. but thats my input on all of this. =]
umm no offence but Orlando Bloom is not that hot compared to Johnny Depp

I think that they should make a 4th movie because the fans want to see jhony dep in action once more, it wont kill the movies it will make the actors names better and more people will buy it so POTC 4 will be great

I honestly like the POTC movies…they are the best..especially the third, but they cannot possibly not make a 4th one. they just cant. not the way they ended the fourth, it just cant be like that. I also was reading into the third National Treasure, and a funny idea came up. That Ben Gates would b looking for the Fountain of Youth and then he would see Sparrow and Barbossa. like a disney version of Aliens Vs. Predator….
Your not too bright are you? Of course they can continue the plot…thats why the third ended the way that it did…as a cliffhanger..if they didnt the plot would be broken. Unfinished.
i second that. they could very easily continue the series. i mean come on. will is now on the Dutchman so he Cant possibly be in the 4th one unless he maybe made a few small appearances. as far as Elizabeth she is pretty much done with the whole questing thing seeing as she has achieved her goal of marring will. so they are both done with the series. all that remains is jack and Babosa in the quest for riches and everlasting life…so they could easily make a movie about them trying to gain eternal youth. and maybe even go into a 5th sequel describing their quest for fame. then maybe once they are all happy they could bring the series to a slow end rather the abrupt end brought on by the third movie. if they don’t finish the series there will be the ever pressing thought of whether or not jack and barbosa actually find the fountain of youth…
I agree I mean Elizabeth is alone on an island!!! And the movie made it pretty clear that she hadn’t left that spot recently. I think they should include the son in the 4th and make for a pretty good storyline

I think that it is a good thing because it answers the details… but it is bad because Knightly said that three was enough for her. They cannot make another POTC without her she was there for the beginning she has to be there for the end to make it a good movie.
Seriously, i don’t think Kiera Knightly or Orlando Bloom are really all that necessary at all. I mean, we know what happens to them and they’re story is pretty much finished…Its Jack and Barbosa who was left open ended. I wouldn’t mind if they kept Bloom and Knightly, im just saying it wouldn’t be horrid if it was just Depp and Rush as the main actors.

I think they could wrap up with a fourth movie. It would be great if there were references to Will and Elizabeth, and maybe some small scenes to offer a sense of closure, but even without them I think a fourth can be done. I think it should be done. It was mentioned in #3 that the golden age of piracy is coming to an end- which it did around 1720. It would be great to end it with Jack Sparrow and Barbosa nearly getting caught and executed- only to escape and slip away to some glorious old age right as the age of the pirates closes. Savvy?
I LOVE pirates but if “Will Turner” and “Elizabeth Swan” dont come back, than I see no point in the movie. I consider tham just as important as “Jack Sparrow.” I think thet the couple made pirates so interesting. with out them its not pirates of the carribean, its Jack Sparrow. the franchise will lose all of their romance fans!
I LOVE POTC!!!!!!!!!!!!they have to at least let orlando in the 4th move they need the romance thats part of wat makes potc so good that its a move everyone can enjoy its got the battle, the comedy, the suspence and the romance they have to keep in the cast from the 1st 3 moves cos it wont be the same. the end to the last move was sad i cryed we have to know if jack finds his way back to the black perl and if will is stuck on the ocean fore the next 10 years.
