Pirates Writer Calls Bullshit on Pirates 4 Rumors
Hey, screw you, Terry Rossio! How dare you tell us all these Pirates 4 rumors aren’t true! Who are you to break our hearts and shatter our dreams — except you would probably know more than we do. Ahem. Anyways, according to Terry Rossio, who along with partner Ted Elliott, wrote all three Pirates movies, not to mention seemingly every other successful Hollywood movie franchise since the dawn of time as well, all the rumors you’ve been hearing about Pirates 4 are bullshit. Rossio doesn’t go on to say anymore than that, except that Disney is “too protective of their franchises for that sort of thing”, whatever that means.
Rossio posts his comments at his writing site Wordplayer’s message board, which I used to visit pretty regularly when I was in school, and I would recommend for anyone interested in screenwriting. Rossio has a lot of really good stuff there, and all for free, to boot.
For the record, none of the recent Pirates 4 rumors have any truth, including the so-called record 50 million dollar payday for Depp.
Some pretty funny stuff, though. Sacha Cohen? Tim Burton? Studios are way too protective of their franchises for that sort of thing.
So there you go. No, Borat won’t be Captain Jack Sparrow’s long-lost brother. No, Tim Burton won’t be directing the fourth Pirates film. And no, Depp isn’t being paid a gazillion dollars for the fourth Pirates movie.

Here’s where the major studios lose their audience and destroy their brands. The first Pirates, excellent. The second two, dogshit. If they eighty-six Rossio and Elliot, they’ll be on to something. The writing for both sequels was just too dreadful to be repeated. Seriously, Bruckheimer, you have to sack these guys. They’re the reason the take for both sequels (At World’s End especially) was underwhelming.
Why do people keep watching these Pirate movies! They all sucked! I can see why 14 year old girls went, but why is everyone else watching them?
I personally enjoy watching all the Pirate’s of the Carribean movie’s over and over, and so does my family. But i do watch them way more. why? not because of who is in it, but how well each charachter plays their part, the life of a pirate. I love the music, and photography is done quite well, and the computer technology is amazeing you have to admit. I always liked these movies. Since a crisis brought major stress in life, my favorite movies are Steele Magnolias & Pirates of the Carribean 1,2&3. These movies make me laugh, and that’s good medicine mate, savvy. So, if a 4 comes out, i will see it, and know if i liked it as well or not.
i dont know why all you people are being so harsh on the pirate sequels.. i persoanly found the second two even better then the first one. And i also think all you people are forgetting one major thing..their DISNEY movies..meaning their for LITTLE KIDS. regardless i still know pleanty of people in there 30’s 40’s and 50’s who all love these movies. And another thing.. you keep saying how the sequels bombed?? i dont understand we’re your getting that info from but if you do your research you’ll see how dead wrong you are, and the amazing amount of money each movie brought in. I do, however, understand that everyone feels diffrent about everything but that doesnt mean you need to get ignorant and talk down any of the movies or anyone involved in them and if you didnt like the first three, then dont watch the fourth..because there is going to be a fourth, disney announced it and Johnny Depp announced it himself.
i dont know why everyone is talking bad about pirates of the carribean movies, they said that part the was so stupid, wich i think is wrong, i think that all the pirat movis where amazing, and i think that they should go on making more . i wont to know what happends to jack . i wont to see what is going to happen with will and elisabeth and the kid . they cant keep us hanging like this .. as i said i liked all the movies and you know what if you didnt like the secnd one then why did you watch the 3rd. if u didnt like any then dont watch the 4th . and dont bitch about it.

There is going to be a POC4. Johnny Depp is getting a brother. There are two guys in the running to be his brother one being Russell Brand or some other guy I forgot his name. It was on Aol news thing Oct.29.08. They said one will either be his brother or they will cast them both and they will be faturnal triplets.. I personally think they should use Russell brand. I think he resembles Johnny Depp in a way and think he would play it great.
One brother would be enough. I also would like Will and Elizabeth to be in the fourth movie, I feel that while he went off in Davy Jones’s place and she has a child, somehow their story (or perhaps the child’s) is not quite done. Besides, I think Keira Knightly is friggin hot.
I agree, 2 brothers sounds kind of fake, like why havn’t we heard anything from either of them before. As far as Will and Elizabeth go, I don’t think we really need either of them anymore. I can see them using Will only because he’s the new Davvy Jones, but we can do without him, he’s not that great of an actor and his acsent pisses me off. lol. I don’t see what they coud do with Elizabeth anymore but i do see them maybe using their son somehow, that would be interesting.
In my opinion the only thing that made the Pirate movies lackluster was Kiera and Orlando’s horrible acting. Everybody else is great but those two seem incapable of protraying natural emotion. They always force the emotion in their scenes, thus making their relationship seem really fake. I really hope they leave those two out of the story, Will can come back for a cameo since he’s the new captain of the Dutchman but Liz can stay home and babysit as far as I’m concerned. If they do the “Fountain of Youth” storyline they eluded to in the end of 3 then their son probably won’t be in the movie as he’s too young for adventures. Unless they go for a Treasue Island like twist. Truthfuly this one is up in the air as far as if it will be good or not.
