Plot Details From Red Dawn Reboot

Wolverine!!! Come on, who didn’t leave the theaters screaming the famous line from John Milius’s 1984 movie “Red Dawn”? Okay, not all of us. I was too young to have seen the movie in theaters and saw the film only later on DVD. Er, I mean, VHS. You remember them, right? Those box-looking rectangle thingies with, you know, film and junk? Anyways, they’re rebooting “Red Dawn” for a new generation. So what can we expect?

Latino Review has gotten their hands on the script by Carl Ellsworth (“Red Eye”). You can watch the full script review for yourself, and I would encourage it. Those guys put up some nice production values in their videos, and it definitely needs to be seen. But for the lazy among you, here are the important highlights:

- Former second unit director Dan Bradley (“The Bourne Ultimatum”, “Quantum of Solace”) is expected to make his directorial debut with the movie. He’s apparently going to be using the same handheld style on the reboot.

- The bad guys/invaders will now be the Red Chinese, who knocks off America in the first 20 pages, and gets help from those stinkin’ Russians later in the movie. The cause of the invasion? Oil, of course. There are hints that America is kinda to blame, too. In today’s PC environment, that’s not too much of a surprise.

- Our heroes: Jed is now a former Marine back from Iraq and Matt his high school star quarterback brother; Erica is now an Asian-American cheerleader; and Danny is the African-American star running back. Basically, all the original characters will return (including keeping the same names) but as different archetypes.

- The reboot will be very action-oriented. The original was rated PG-13, but it sounds like the reboot might go the R-rated route.

I agree, this is a bad idea. They just want to make a crappy p/c version of a classic, the original had it spot-on: America is always the good guys.

If they want to do remakes I have a couple ideas. How about remaking Alex Haley’s Roots but instead of the commie, anti-American bs of the first one, show the truth: how Black people were actually better off as slaves and were quite happy to be taken from their backwards, Godless existence in their own country and forced into bondage by the righteous White man whose morals were so obviously superior.

Hollywood would also do well to remake all the left-wing fantasy accounts of the so-called Holocaust. But instead of the bleeding heart crap show the reality of how Hitler and the Nazi Party just wanted to return to good ol’ fashioned, right-wing, nationalistic German values by fighting the good fight and ridding Europe of those lecherous, traitorous Jews and their supporters.

These are the remakes any patriotic, red-blooded American could support and get behind. This country has been going down the tubes for decades, all due to what that moron who’s been in the White House for a few months has done to erode the constitution. What happened to the good ol’ days when “All Men Were Created Equal” meant that White men could invade other countries, ransack their resources, arm foreign militias that would later turn against us, and otherwise do whatever they wanted with no repercussions?

You yanks do realise that there are countries outside of the US don’t you?

i should be primarily an anti communist flick but look at Iraq, thanks to Bush jnr it would be a more accurate portrayal of an invasion in todays world if the US partially provokes an attack.

and you do realize that “Real American” is bullshitting you, right? that he didn’t mean any of those things he wrote? moron.

This movie should have been “islamic dawn” with muslims taking over ameria and imposing sharia law, banning girls from school, forcing women to wear burkahs, then americans fighting back and taking back their country. now that would make an awesome movie. chinese and russians, pleeeaase

    • teufelwaffen

Only one problem with that, cowboy….exactly what “muslims” constitute a force and organization large enough to ‘takeover’ the US? Better rethink that one, bub….

Fantastic. Not only are they going to ruin the memory of the first Red Dawn, they feel compelled to hand fist more diversity down our throats. Inject an “Asian-American” and a “Black-American,” and somehow the whole world will sit in a circle, holding hands, and sing Cum By Awe (yes I know, but this version stands on it ironic own). I guess when you elect a President because of his multiple races, and ignore his experience, or his questionable past, you get today’s version of ignorance reflected in the unexplainable need to mix us up and create the modern version of mud people.

Remember the relic that was “we are all the same” were just one people. To bad scientists and the human genome have put that one to bed. Maybe they can throw in Al Gore in a cameo so he can preach his version of ignorance about how global climate change (how do you define ignorance, remember this from the same guy who in the 70′s said the polar ice caps were going to cover the world in 30 years, and 30 years later said that the Earth was going to melt). Since he continues to prove himself a moron, and changes his definitions of his next cataclysmic event, he would be a perfect fit, maybe they would even type cast him into the roll of the Communist Red Chinese leader?

Sorry, forgot my chain of thought, must have been the Gore influence.

Al Gore in a cameo so he can preach his version of ignorance about how global climate change…

…is the ultimate evil perpetrated by the evil American people, and how our hard work and hard fought wealth should be redistributed.
