How’s this for a plot: Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Jack Frost and the Sandman band together to form a united front against the Bogeyman.
That’s the premise of Dreamworks’ new CG movie “Rise of the Guardians”, based on the upcoming series of young adult fantasy novels by William Joyce (and not to be mistaken with the talking CG owl movie “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” by Zack Snyder, itself based on a series of young adult fantasy novels).
The film will feature the voice talents of Jude Law as the villain, Pitch, with Hugh Jackman as The Easter Bunny, Isla Fisher as The Tooth Fairy, Chris Pine as Jack Frost, and Alec Baldwin as, we’re told, a Russian-accented Santa Claus. There is another character called The Sandman, described as “a silent, Buddhalike character”.
Peter Ramsey is co-directing along with Joyce.
Dreamworks has the film scheduled for November 12 2012.
