“Tears of the Black Tiger” director Wisit Sasanatieng is back with a new movie. Kind of. “Red Eagle” is a reboot of a Thai action franchise from the 1950s to 1970. Hey, if Hollywood can reboot every damn little thing, why can’t the Thais? The martial arts/superhero flick stars Ananda Everingham (“Shutter”) as a superhero who fights city corruption, bad guys, and nuclear power plants. Not necessarily in that order, except on Wednesdays. Take a gander at the poster and trailer below.
Wisekwai has all your “Red Eagle” 4-1-1:
A nuclear power plant is about to be commissioned upon the signing of corrupt and power hungry politicians. The citizens are in frenzy, as they oppose this plan but they cannot do a thing about it. And so, a hero was born, chasing down the criminals and the corrupt, killing of whatever threatens the city’s well being. He leaves a card with his name simply as “THE RED EAGLE”. However, the hero becomes the hunted, when the politicians send out their best defense, known as “THE BLACK DEMON”.
“Red Eagle” is due out in Thailand October 7, 2010, but Stateside audiences will probably have to just wait for the import DVD as per usual.
