I am a big fan of Rockne S. O’Bannon’s “Farscape”, one of the best sci-fi shows ever made that most people have never seen. So when I heard this POTENTIAL plotline for Marvel’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, I couldn’t help but immediately think … “Wait, isn’t that the plot of ‘Farscape’?” The show, for those of you who never saw it, had an American astronaut testing out an experimental engine in space finding himself shot through a wormhole and into the other side of the galaxy, where he encounters, you guessed it, ex-cons on a ship and go on the run with them, with that part of the galaxy’s ruling alien species in pursuit.
And here’s the supposed plot of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie that Marvel has scheduled for sometime in 2014:
About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.
That also kinda sounds like the “Green Lantern” movie, now that I think about it…
In any case, that’s this morning’s rumor regarding “Guardians of the Galaxy”. There’s a link to where the plot description was originally posted, but that gets you nothing, since you need to sign in, and apparently signing in costs money, so that’s a non-starter.
By the way, I’ve read some of the current issues of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” comic book, and I don’t recall there even being a human on the roster, though I could be wrong.
Here’s the opening intro for “Farscape” FYI:
