Movies like “Wind Chill”, if done right, with really good actors and a good script, could be really good. And if it doesn’t have one or two or any of those things? We’re talking about an hour and a half of pure torture — for the audience. Gregory Jacobs has chosen wisely in his cast, which consists of Emily Blunt and Ashton Holmes as two college 20-somethings sharing a ride home (she’s hot, he’s a little bit creepy) when their car gets stuck in the snow thanks to the creepy guy’s “shortcut”. Which is bad enough, but then the ghosts of dead people who have died on that stretch of highway starts haunting them. Don’t you hate it when that happens?
The film had a limited theatrical run in April 27th, 2007, but chances are you didn’t see it, because you probably have never heard of it. It should do well enough on DVD, where low-concept movies like this often thrive. Look for Sony Pictures Releasing to push it out on DVD very soon.
Starring Ashton Holmes, Emily Blunt, Martin Donovan, and directed by Gregory Jacobs.
