Puppets and horror — it’s really hard to go wrong with this combination. Peter Jackson proved this low-brow concept could flourish in a feature-length setting with his 1989 cult classic “Meet the Feebles”, a nasty little film I have to watch at least once a year. Artist extraordinaire Dustin Mills — whose official website is literally packed with all sorts of snazzy, NSFW photos — has tossed his own misshapen hat into the proverbial ring with his upcoming horror opus “The Puppet Monster Massacre”. The teaser doesn’t reveal much, but it has definitely planted the seed of cinematic interest directly into my fertile brainscape. It’s a lot less painful than it sounds.
Need a synopsis? Here’s one from Dread Central:
A group of teens are challenged to spend a night in the Wagner mansion on the edge of town. Little do they know the owner (Dr. Wolfgang Wagner) has concocted a monstrosity in the basement and plans to make the hapless teens the creature’s first big meal.
“The Puppet Monster Massacre” should find its way onto one format or another this fall. The aforementioned trailer has been included at no extra charge.
