Is the director still onboard? Did the studio butcher the film for a meek PG-13 rating? Is the soundtrack all rap metal? Who knows what’s true anymore when it comes to Frank Castle’s ongoing war in the cinemas. What we do know, though, is that the film has indeed gotten a “R” rating, and that director Lexi Alexander still hasn’t come out of hiding to comment on the film’s, shall we say, tumultuous road back to the big screen. But hey, ignore all that, because Lionsgate just sent us a groovy little new poster for “War Zone”. This is one of those fancy lenticular posters that’s supposed to, you know, do fancy stuff when you look at it. I think.
Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the “Punisher Task Force” hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.
Starring Julie Benz, Dominic West, Ray Stevenson, Dash Mihok, Wayne Knight, Doug Hutchison, Colin Salmon, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, T.J. Storm, David Vadim, Larry Day, and directed by Lexi Alexander.
The new poster will start showing up in the lobbies of your local theaters starting tomorrow, with the gun frame mounted onto the outside of the lightbox.
The Punisher takes down bad guys December 5th 2008.
