Ray Liotta in Killing Them Softly (2012) Movie Image

We haven’t even seen a trailer for Andrew Dominik’s “Killing Them Softly” yet, but a clip has surfaced, just in time for the film’s Cannes Film Festival debut in Frogland later this month. The movie was originally called “Cogan’s Trade”, which I personally thought was a better title. If nothing else, it doesn’t sound nearly as generic and direct-to-DVD-ish as “Killing Them Softly”. In any case, check out your first look at the movie, which takes a bit of getting used to, especially after Dominik’s “The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford”.

The film finds Brad Pitt playing Cogan, a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that went down during a mob-protected poker game. That shotgun he carries is one of the tools of his trade. The badass looking leather jacket is the other one.

Also starring Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Sam Shepard, Max Casella, Bella Heathcote, and Scoot McNairy.

Look for them to start dying softly in September.

despite liotta being brilliant in goodfellas he has seriously under performed in abs everything else.

Liotta was brilliant in pretty much every movie he was part of (La Linea, Narc, Copland…). He just never landed such a great role in such a stellar movie as goodfellas.
