We haven’t even gotten a regular trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s crime flick “Drive” yet, but we’ve already gotten two clips, and now the producers have decided to skip on ahead and drop a Red Band Trailer on the Comic Con masses. I honestly don’t know why this is being tagged as a Red Band, because it doesn’t look all that Red Band-ish to me. I suspect calling it that is just to get some extra attention. The movie itself, though? This thing looks brutal and uncompromising, just like the James Sallis novel it’s based on. Check it out below and tell me I’m wrong.
“Drive” is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day (Gosling), a loner by nature, who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene (Mulligan). When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best—Drive!
Starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks, Oscar Isaac, Ron Perlman, Christina Hendricks and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.
Speeding into theaters September 16, 2011.
