Rian Johnson’s Looper Adds Perabo, Daniels to Cast

I’m really looking forward to Rian Johnson’s “Looper”. Not just because I’m a fan of sci-fi, but because I know Johnson isn’t going to deliver your typical sci-fi action movie. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be quite novel, despite the done-to-death conceit of time travel paradoxes, something the film will definitely have to deal with given its premise of time-traveling hitmen.

The movie is currently running with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, and Paul Dano in the cast, and now it’s added three more names: Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo, and Noah Segan.

Perabo (below), of course, can currently be seen on the USA Network’s “Alias”-like show “Covert Affairs”, and Daniels has been in tons of movies. As for Segan, he’s been in director Rian Johnson’s “The Brothers Bloom” as well as his excellent thriller “Brick”. Johnson, it seems, likes working with the same people over and over again. (He previously directed Gordon-Levitt in the aforementioned “Brick”.)

No word on who any of the new additions will be playing, but the film is about a group of killers who send bodies of their victims back in time, and somehow China is the centerpiece of the storyline, thus the inclusion of Chinese actress Xu Qing (pictured, left, “The Founding of a Republic”) in the cast. Willis and Gordon-Levitt are playing the same role, the male lead, years apart..
