Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood Trailer Rides Online

So yeah, it’s Robin Hood, but it’s not really Robin Hood. Or at least, it’s nothing like any Robin Hood I’ve seen before, which I suppose may be the point of “re-imagining” the character. In any case, here’s your very first look at the trailer for Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe’s latest stab at “Gladiator”-esque glory, “Robin Hood”. And yeah, not a big fan of the hard instrumentals accompanying the trailer, but the last scene, with Crowe as Hood aiming with a bow and arrow while blood is flowing down his face? Awesome. Like I always say — give Ridley Scott men with broadswords, and he turns in gold.

Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richard’s army against the French. Upon Richard’s death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion, a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest. Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marion and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff.

Starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, Matthew Macfadyen, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, William Hurt, Max von Sydow, Scott Grimes, Oscar Isaac, Eileen Atkins, and directed by Ridley Scott.

The arrows fly May 14, 2010.

Looks good. I mean seriously it’s definitely an epic version of Robin Hood. Classic Ridley Scott. I’m waiting to see more.
