Apparently singer Rihanna “impressed” some people with her feature-film debut performance in Peter Berg’s “Battleship” (unlikely — see a clip of her from the movie below and judge for yourself — but let’s go with it), enough that “The Fast and Furious 6” is looking to add her to the cast of the Justin Lin movie.
UK tabloid The Sun (so yes, take this with a big ol grain of salt) says Rihanna will play “a villainous role”, or as the site puts it, “a sultry villain”. The site’s unnamed source goes on:
Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life. It’s a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles.
Wait, writers? Writer are officially casting movies now? That’s news to me.
If true, Rihanna would be joining Gina Carano as the franchise’s latest new blood. Carano is already on tap to play one of Dwayne Johnson’s badass fugitive retrieval agents. As you’ll recall, most of his guys, uh, sorta died on him in “Fast Five”.
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and about two dozen other “regulars” will also return for part six, which is looking like a two-parter. Why? Mostly because “Fast Five” did so well.
