Rob Zombie Returns for Halloween Remake Sequel

Goodbye, French guys Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, because Rob Zombie is coming back to helm the sequel to “Halloween”, his reboot of the John Carpenter franchise. Kinda sucks to be Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo right now, but that’s what you get trying to step into the shoes of the great and mighty Rob Zombie. Okay, so great and mighty may be a tad much, more like moderately talented and somewhat interesting Rob Zombie. So, the big news in horror circles is that Zombie, who once declined to direct the sequel, has changed his mind, and Dimension Films was more than happy to welcome him back into the fold and kick those French guys out the door. Sucks to be them.
Says the Zomeister about coming back (via Variety):
“I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again,” Zombie said. “Now, we’ll be hauling ass, and that’s the problem making a movie called ‘Halloween’: If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I’d be fine.”
Oh, you wacky kids and your Halloween movies on Halloween.
Dimension Films even has the marketing campaign for the “Halloween” sequel all ready. The title is being shortened to the too-cool-for-school “H2″ and there’s a teaser poster already up at Variety. It’s kinda small, but that’s Variety for ya, absolutely no regard for the fan geeks that enjoy their movie posters in decent size. Have no fear, Dimension Films has provided what Variety did not.
They also add about the sequel:
Zombie’s “H2” will pick up at the exact moment the first movie stopped and follow the aftermath of Michael Myers murderous rampage through the eyes of heroine Laurie Strode.
Presumably this means Scout Taylor-Compton will return as Laurie, with Tyler Mane as Myers.

I just hope this movie will be better than his first remake halloween 2007 sucked out loud
So word has it from a friend of mine. they have started filming H2 in Covington,Ga. He bumped into a couple of set guys at the bar one night right up the road from his house.

Actually the remake did stink. I’m a huge fan of the series and
the whole idea behind bringing in Zombie, no offense, was to
beef it up a lot and make it really nasty and scary. With all due
respect, the new remake was just so-so. It was an improved version
of the orginal. Zombie is known for “The Hills Have Eyes”, “House of 1000 Corpses!” Hence House of 1000 corpses! The name itself should tell you how gory it was. The Devils Rejects was also very well done. But then you have Halloween remake and this little boy slices up his entire family and then as a grown up, puts on a mask and stalks the town. Zombie didn’t add anything to it. He just continued what Akkad had started. I expected him to show up adding a chainsaw to Myers hand or a storage attick filled with corpses heads or something cool. But nothing except the same babysitter stalked routine. So I hope he can add a little excitement to the series. But honestly Halloween remake was a bit dull….No offense to Rob Zombie….I still love his flicks though….
hell yeah i am looking forward to h2. Loved the old halloween and love the new one. Go Rob Zombie.
Wow…ok so most of the remake of the last one was good..I wish it focused more on the actual remake of it rather thant he backstory, but I appreciate what he did with it and I imagine that the halloween 2 remake will be amazing! It will just be straight laurie strode and michael myers! I love it!

Okay, first of all….Rob had nothing to do with ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ or the follow up (Which Wes Craven and his kid Co-Wrote) so you need to maybe….um…know what your placing onto someone else’s resume.
And The first “Corpses” film was not chalked full of countless dead bodies, it had the two robbers,2, then the two couples, 4, the dad and the cop, 6, and the cporses were zombies, so they were dead before the film started, and in reality, the chick who got away was never really shown being stabbed by Otis, so that only 5, 5and a half tops…not countless bodies as you made it sound like. And ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ was by far, his best work, mostly because he managed to make the film have a western feel, which made it more gritty then it would have been had it taken place at the Firefly house.
Secondly….you also said….

WTF! He added an entire balckstory, he even gave the mask one! That is not the same old stalking the sitters routine, and where the heck do you think a chainsaw would come into play in the series, let alone the remake…this isn’t Texas its Haddonfield….plus when in all the othher flims did you see Mike beat down a guy in the restroom and jack his clothes? That’s your addinng something new to the series…he straight down mugged the guy, then killed him, and left his naked body in the crapper!
So, A…get your info right….and, B, unless you got the time, the money, the skill, and the crew to film the best remake on the planet…and a coke and a smile and shut the F up!
Why am I even posting this?
Oh and by the way…I think Rob is more creative then simply stealing the “chaninsaw hand” from the “Evil Dead” series!

I agree with you mr.insane, the remake was so much better then the original as it cleared up alot of the plot holes that the original had. It made michael a more intresting character not just some other teen slasher (ex: jason vorhees) The mask meant something this time it just wasnt some random shoplifting like the original and his bond with his sister is explained and established it. Akkers is the original but zombie definetly gave michael life.
well first off i thought the movie was ok for a stand off film, but i think someone else could of done a better job. zombie is known for making gory films and if your a true fan of the halloweens they werent about goryness it was about the fear that a psycho path was loose on the streets killin. i also did not like the fact they did a backup story for how he became what he is. i thought it was way more scary not knowing why he is a psycho killer. i hope he does alot better job with the new one hes making. also i felt this one was pretty much just thrown together.
nothing will compare to carpenters original 78 Halloween.
When I 1st saw the Halloween remake, I ran out of the theater screaming of how it sucked. That was because I wanted the original all over again and THAT is impossible! Being such a fan of the original I gave Zombie’s version no chance. However, I saw it again and watched it as a “different” take from a new director. Now I like it alot!
There was a lot of good things and some “what were you thinking” moments to that film. The positive feedback I have is that the actors who played both Michael Meyers were great. The kid was very creepy and the Man was outright terrifying! I thought Taylor Mayne was much scarier than the original Michael [most likely due to his height and that new creepy mask]. The 1st half of the movie was very interesting on how Michael became a mass murderer. I do applaud Zombie for giving us insight & something new. It worked. Unfortunately there were things that were just stupid too.
The most noticeable screw up was the casting [other than Michael Meyers]. Even though the actor who played Michael’s doctor is a great actor, Donald Pleasant had some big shoes to fill….the new actor didn’t fill them! Laurie Strode was immbarrasing. Who’s idea was that…Zombie’s? Incredibly miscast! If she was half as good as Jamie Lee Curtis I would have been happy.
The ending was also annoying with crawling around in the ceiling for 20 minutes or what ever it was? WEAK! Most importantly, what was with having hardley any music during last 15-20 minutes of film? I think this is the new thing as I just saw “Friday the 13Th” [2009]& they did the same thing. I guess they haven’t figured out why huge horror movies like Exorcist, Jaws, Halloween or Friday 13th were so successful?? The music! Although it isn’t everything, a great score is enormous in building tension in these types of movies!
I am sure Rob Zombie changed his mind once he heard the amount his check would be to do a second movie. He vowed he would never do it. Hmm, sounds like tha Benjamins! Hopefully this one will be as good or better than the last?!
I am just glad that Rob is coming back to film the second one. Rob has a feel/look that I think would be hard to duplicate. I am GLAD they are putting out a second film and I really am excited to see what Rob does with this one.
Well, the biggest problem I had w/ Rob’s Halloween was I really wanted to see Bill Moseley again and I watched that movie 2x and still have no idea where B. Moseley was in that picture. It was something that he used most everyone from Dev. Rej. hell, even Sid Haig was the gravedigger. I hated the fact that he killed the 3 best actors off in Dev. Rej. after it was such a smashing film. I was upset that he wasnt going to make any more of those movies, but said ok maybe he has something else in mind for Otis, Spaulding and Baby. Imagine how excited I was when I saw the credits 4 Halloween. Then no Bill Moseley anywhere, even though he is listed. I had no idea that he was Chop-Top in Mass. 2. I thought Chop-Top was the best actor in that movie besides their father, the cook. So I went out and bought the dvd 4 House of 1000, Dev. Rej. and Tex.2 when I found out there was commentaries and stuff on the dvd’s. I really liked the way Bill Moseley acted and have been searching the universe 4 more movies w/ Bill Moseley in them. He has an unbelievable intensity on the screen. I can now just hear his voice and know its him. He is a man who knows old movies and old music and I thought he brought alot of his knowledge to his horror movies just as he was; a fine actor. So, Rob, there are people out here that r members of Bill Moseley’s fan club. I am not a kid, but I am and have always been a horror afficionado since I was 5(born in 61)and reading Tales from the Crypt(originally The Vault of Horror, I think) and The Witching Hour comic books and having them taken from me and thrown in the trash. I’d just get more and hide them. Even sneaking into see The Exorcist on the big screen at the age of 12 couldnt make me stop liking horror(although I did have to sleep w/ the light on for a couple of weeks.)I will still be waiting on H2 as I really think Rob is a fine director as well as musician. Hopefully since Bill is listed in the cast 4 this movie maybe I will be able to pick him out…….And if anyone dosent like my post, well lick my plate, you dog d—!
