Rob Zombie to Direct Conan Re-make?

Wow. I mean, wow. The idea of remaking “Conan”, which actually still looks damn good and holds up today, decades after it was originally released, was bad enough, and now comes a pretty solid rumor that none other than Rob Friggin Zombie is in talks to direct the remake. Say what? Rob Zombie? Seriously?

This afternoon we have confirmed 100% that Rob Zombie has been taking meetings with Lionsgate and Nu Image to get behind the director’s chair for their upcoming Conan film!
Ugh. For some reason, Rob Zombie has a lot of fans, but I’ve never been one of them. For my money, they shouldn’t even remake “Conan”. Put the original film in theaters today, and kids wouldn’t know it was made in 1982. It still holds up that well, if not infinitely better than 90% of the “new” stuff released today.
So where does this leave Xavier Gens, who is listed as helming the project over at IMDB.com?
