After wowing and confusing audiences at film festivals everywhere throughout most of 2012, Rob Zombie’s latest horror opus, the trippy looking “The Lords of Salem” is finally scheduled to arrive in theaters this April. Who knows what horrors lurk in the minds of Zombie, but I really love how the official synopsis describes the movie as being “from the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie”. In case, you know, you were wondering if someone else had interjected ideas into this movie, you can rest assured, it’s all Zombie’s genius … or fault, depending on how you look at it.

So check out a new trailer for “The Lords of Salem”, starring Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon. Hey, if the Smiths can give each other movie roles…

From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

Starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davidson, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Judy Gleeson, Meg Foster, and Griffin Boice.

After playing the festival circuits, the film now arrives April 19, 2013.

When it comes to imagery, Zombie is spot-on. Unfortunately movies needs a good plot, dialogue and characters. Casting his wife in every movie is also a bad idea, she needs some serious acting lessons.

It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited to see a horror movie. Based on what I’ve heard from festival screenings this is gonna be a really ambitious, outside-the-box film unlike anything Rob has done before.

    That looks goofy.
