Robert De Niro and Al Pacino Face Off in Righteous Kill

Written by Nix | May 17th, 2007 | 1 Comment |

Nu Image’s Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films have teamed up to give the world just the second film in which powerhouse personas Robert De Niro and Al Pacino will share the same scene in a movie. The film in question is “Righteous Kill”, and Variety describes it as “a $60 million indie production”. Which reminds you that Hollywood is all kinds of screwed up if a $60 million dollar movie can be considered “indie”. In any case, “Righteous Kill” will be teaming Pacino and De Niro as cops pursuing a serial killer, and will be directed by Jon Avnet from a script by Russell Gewirtz.

The last time De Niro and Pacino were in the same scene together was Michael Mann’s crime film “Heat”, and although they were both in “Godfather 2″, the actors had no scenes together.

Shooting for “Righteous Kill” begins in August in Connecticut.

Haha $60 million indie, by that standard all movies that are not made in America are indie films probably.
