Robert Downey Jr. and Tim Burton’s Pinocchio Gets a Kick Ass Writer

Jane GoldmanApparently Johnny Depp was busy this year, because Tim Burton has teamed up with Robert Downey Jr. to do a live-action take on “Pinocchio”, the story about the wooden boy whose nose grows when he lies.

The duo aren’t formally attached to the project (re: no documents have been signed), but they are apparently knee-deep in developing it, and have now hired “Kick-Ass” and long-time Matthew Vaughn contributor Jane Goldman to tackle the script.

In this new version of the familiar children’s tale, Downey Jr. would play Geppetto, Pinocchio’s creator. In the film, to be directed by Burton, Pinocchio goes missing and “Geppetto embarks on a quest to reunite with his marionette.”

Brit Jane Goldman, known as much for her bright red hair as she is for her comic book adaptations, is coming off the hit “The Woman in Black” with Daniel Radcliffe and the first and upcoming “X-Men: First Class” films. She will be replacing Bryan Fuller, who had written the initial draft of the film.

The trio are working with Warner Bros. on “Pinocchio”.

LOL. I thought the same thing! It seems tailor made for Depp too. He pretty much played the awkward, outcast in every other Burton movie.
