Robert Pattinson Gets Freaky in the First Trailer for David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis

I’ll admit that, upon hearing David Cronenberg had cast Robert Pattinson in his upcoming mind-bender “Cosmopolis”, I scoffed. Literally. I think I made some sort of seriously obnoxious sound whilst rolling my eyes in an overly melodramatic fashion. Turns out I may have jumped to one insanely misguided conclusion. The first trailer, which can be found below, completely blew me away. It’s definitely a lot darker and much stranger than I had anticipated. Which, of course, is a good thing, because when Cronenberg does weird, you never really know what you’re going to get.

Before proceeding, please consume this synopsis:

Eric Packer risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day, a move that puts him in an assassin’s crosshairs as he moves from place to place in a limo in a study of capitalism that takes place in a slightly futuristic metropolis.

Need more incentive? The film also features Samantha Morton, Jay Baruchel, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand, and Juliette Binoche. Whenever you’re ready, you can find the trailer hanging out below. And while it doesn’t contain anything overly offensive, you may not want to watch it at work. Unless you work out of your home. In which case, have at it.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.

Looks weird. Like Brazil, but with blood… and without the winged guy.

Looks similar to Noe’s Enter the Void and it’s Cronenberg so I’ll always give his movies a try.
