Robert Rodriguez to Direct Clash of the Titans Remake?

Robert Rodriguez is one busy fella — whether it’s trying to get “Sin City 2″ off the ground or trying to squash rumors that his new gal pal Rose McGowan is responsible for his troubles with getting “Barbarella” remade, the guy has a lot on his hands. Now according to movie site Latino Review, Rodriguez’s name has surfaced as a possible director for the proposed “Clash of the Titans” remake by Warner Bros. Word is that Rodriguez has been offered the job, and it’s up to him to say nay or yay. I’m guessing that he’ll say yay, considering how much trouble he’s having lately, not to mention all the bad press, that trying to get “Barbarella” remade has gotten him. Then again, I would have preferred it if he would quit with all this remake crap and go do “Sin City 2″ already.

NOW lets get some stuff straight right at this moment before my inbox is filled with hateorade e-mails. Robert Rodriguez has not INKED THE DEAL; the studio just wants him and its up to him to say yes or no.

Go for it, Robert, and this time, um, leave the new wife at home, okay?

The 1981 original starred Harry Hamlin. Here’s a quick plot rundown:

By answering a seemingly impossible riddle, Perseus, the son of Zeus, wins the hand of the Princess Andromeda in marriage. Trouble appears in the shape of Calibos, the princess’s former love, and his mother, the Goddess Thetis. In order that the dreaded Kraken not be released, Andromeda has to be sacrificed and Perseus searches for the Medusa; her head is the only thing that can stop the Kraken.

Well, at least the special effects (via CGI) will be better this time.

AICN says Rodriguez has passed on the project. How do they know? Um, they called and asked him. They live in the same town, you know.

Sorry–even with the antiquated special effects and clamation the original Clash of the Titans was better!
