Robocop Reboot’s OmniCorp Wants to Sell You Something

OmniCorp Logo from Robocop Reboot

Looks like MGM has started up the viral marketing for their upcoming “Robocop” reboot. First up is an “official website” for the film’s infamous OmniCorp, the corporation that builds Robocop and supplies a future Detroit with its various money-making schemes protection products, including a sparkling new ED-209 enforcer. After all, a “Robocop” movie without OmniCorp is just not a “Robocop” movie, and it’s good to know that the folks behind the reboot recognize that.

Jose Padilha is directing the remake, which is scheduled for 2013. The film will star Joel Kinnaman (“The Killing”) as Alex Murphy aka Robocop, with Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and Hugh Laurie also in the cast.

that ed 209 looks terrible. it looks like it got eaten by michael bays robot machine and then pooped out by said machine.

Why cant they leave the classics alone

  • my glass eye

I don’t think the ED209 looks that bad. I do agree that the original didn’t need re-making though.

    Shit, I’m sold!

“Once I even called the old man, (dub) Air head” :P

I’m with you Lex!! I’m all for this. Classics to me are the ones that hold up over time, Robocop is still fun but definitely is dated. I’m liking the sleeker Robocop, and the Battleheavy ED-209! Also it used to be OmniConsumerProducts I like OmniCorp better, but loving how it can still be called OCP if they want to, and the emblem is almost the same.

try something original-DON’T MESS WITH IT OR REMAKE IT!!!!!!

  • John Reid

When will hollywood realize that all these fun 80’s movies they are trying to remake were more about STYLE than just special effects. Making big cgi reboots without said style is pointless.

  • imrickjames

People really need to stop complaining, it’s a movie who cares if its remade. You don’t want to see it? DON’T, and stop looking at it’s promotional material if it makes you so mad.

    • Lexavi80

@imrickjames: Kind of unfair, don’t you think?

Movies are, in many ways, a (not-so-new) form of art. Would somebody go see the Mona Lisa and say “gee, this paint is too old fashion. Let’s make a more modern copy of it!”? Of course not.

There are many people who appreciates the original Robocop for a reason. Reboots don’t always mean “better”. In that fashion I understand some of the rants.

My humble opinion though is… bring it!
