Roland Emmerich Explains His Need to Destroy America in New White House Down Featurette

Roland Emmerich loves to destroy things. Like, cities. Countries. Planets. Dude just has a thing for blowing shit up and letting God sort’em out. Or Gods, in the case of some of his movies. He’s up to his old tricks in “White House Down”, albeit on a smaller scale. Looks like the only things that go kablooey in this movie is the White House and some American landmarks. Frankly, I think ol Roland has a fascination with seeing how much of America he can blow up before his career runs its course.

Check out the latest featurette for “White House Down”, focusing on the director’s need for ‘splosions. It’s over 3 minutes long, so yeah, pretty long.

Capitol Policeman John Cale has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer. Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Rachelle Lefevre, Joey King, Lance Reddick, Garcelle Beauvais, Jason Clarke, Jake Weber.

Taking down the man’s house this June 28, 2013.
