Let’s face it, there is no “Anchorman 2” without Will Ferrell, so obviously the biggest piece to getting the sequel made is getting Ferrell back in the polyester suit and behind the anchor desk. Mission accomplished, because Ferrell has officially signed up for the sequel. This, after Adam McKay claimed the sequel was dead a scant year and change ago. Guess not.
“Anchorman 2”, of course, will be the long-awaited sequel to 2004’s “Anchorman”, which starred Ferrell as ace reporter Ron Burgundy, a man who makes just as much trouble behind the anchor desk as he does in front of it. Which is to say, dude gets in trouble a lot.
The original, officially called “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”, also co-starred Christina Applegate as the object of Burgundy’s lust, David Koechner, Steve Carrel, and Paul Rudd. Carel and Rudd will once again make trouble with Burgundy, though Applegate and Koechner’s return are more questionable.
Adam McKay, who co-wrote the first movie (with Ferrell) and directed, will return behind the camera. Judd Apatow will also return in a producing capacity.
You know what time it is? It’s time to ruuuuuuuuuuumble:
