Rooney Mara is Nancy in Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Remake, 2010) Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on April 23, 2009
Looks like Freddy has found his new muse — relative unknown Rooney Mara (”Youth in Revolt”), who will be playing the lead in Platinum Dunes’ reboot of Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise. Mara will play the Nancy Thompson character, who has been described as the town outcast and Goth enthusiast (at least in one of the drafts of the screenplay), which means she’ll spend most of the movie moping around in black clothes and probably listening to Marilyn Manson or something.
The news comes from the blokes over at Bloody-Disgusting, who says Mara is currently in negotiations to star in the reboot. The BD boys have been right about all the “Nightmare” reboot casting so far, so I don’t doubt them on this one.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Rooney is the little sister of Kate, who herself just landed a nice gig at “Iron Man 2″.
Mara will join Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy and The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Thomas Dekker as her love interest. Samuel Bayer is helming the remake, which is expected to scare you by 2010.
Below: Better clean up that girl next door look if you wanna play a Goth, Rooney.
