Lovely English lass Rosamund Pike (“Die Another Day”) will be bringing her lovely English lassiness to the comedy stylings of “The World’s End”, the new comedy from funnymen Edgar Wright, Nick Frost, and Simon Pegg, the same trio behind the zombie comedy “Shaun of the Dead” and the action comedy “Hot Fuzz”. So I guess you would call “The World’s End” a … drinking comedy?
The plot of “The World’s End” goes something like this:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The always classy Pike has done comedy before, most notably in the last “Johnny English” movie, and she’s a regular Hollywood gal, with recent stints in “Wrath of the Titans” with Sam Worthington and has “Jack Reacher” with Tom Cruise coming up later this year.
“The World’s End” starts shooting next month, and is scheduled for 2013 in the UK, but apparently won’t arrive in the States until 2014.
