While she’s waiting for Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise to get that “Jack Reacher” sequel up and running (aren’t we all? Am I right, Jack Reacher fans?), actress Rosamund Pike will have plenty to keep her busy.
She’s signed on to star as the female lead opposite Ben Affleck in David Fincher’s highly anticipated mystery/thriller “Gone Girl”, based on the novel by Gillian Flynn.
Apparently Pike beat out some heavy hitters for the role, including Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt, Abbie Cornish and Olivia Wilde.
She will play “a wife who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, as her husband (Affleck) becomes the prime suspect.” Much of the film, we’re told, will be revealed in flashbacks.
With the two primary leads set, Fincher is now eyeing Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry for supporting roles.
Flynn adapted the book herself, with production set for this September.
