Run, kids! It’s your first look at Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger! Okay, so it’s a very dark, shadowy, and not all that revealing look. But hey, check it out, Freddy’s got his raggy sweater and fedora, and those knives still look pretty sharp. The pic is posted by the reboot’s director Samuel Bayer himself over at Myspace.

Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, Lia D. Mortensen, Charles E Tiedje, and directed by Samuel Bayer. Freddy does his thing all over again April 16, 2010.

Update: Later in the day, IGN debuted the teaser poster for the reboot:

JEH is gonna rock as Freddy. I always thought Freddy had the potnential to be a terrifying character but they made him a joke. This looks to correct that and give people real nightmares again.

It could still be Robert Englund and we didn’t even know; I want to see his face. Please don’t do another teen movie full of boobs like Friday the 13th remake.

  • Dedpool378 says:

From what I’ve been reading we’re getting a more realistic looking Freddy (i.e. the burns will look even more horrendous) and that we’re getting his backstory and it’s alot more disturbing than what we got in the Final Nightmare.

    Thanks Dedpool378 for the infos.

What a waste of time. Why doesn’t anyone in Hollywood get an original idea. Instead we have to watch lame re-make’s of great films. Does this piss anyone else off? Someone in showbiz needs to get some balls and take chance on a new idea.

Simply put there’s really no such thing anymore. Just about everything is inspired by, a different version of , or was based on something else. And when people do take chances it seems they never pan out. Too many people to piss off. Taking something in a new direction usually alienates the fans of the original product. I don’t like that it seems EVERYTHING is being remade, but some stuff wouldn’t be horrible. But really it just looks like the 80’s nostalgia has hit hollywood later than the rest of the country and they’re trying to relive their glory days. This one I’m looking forward to as I’d like to see a SCARY FREDDY KRUEGER film again.
