In the world of James DeMonaco’s “The Purge,” the annual “anything goes, including murder” day comes only once a year. By now, you’d think anyone with half a brain would be well-prepared for it and wouldn’t be driving around town, right? I mean, it’s only once a year. Who in their right minds would even be on the road that day? Or at work? Or doing anything that doesn’t involve hiding in their basement with a shotgun? But nooooooo. The idiots of “The Purge: Anarchy” are on the road in their car when it all goes down. I hate to say it, but I hope they die. Darwinism, baby.
Check out the first trailer for James DeMonaco’s “The Purge: Anarchy,” the sequel to his 2013 surprise hit “The Purge.” That movie had Ethan Hawke and the lady from “Game of Thrones.” This one has the kid who played a high school football player from that TV show everyone loves, but no one has actually seen.
The plot? Stupid kids + murderous civilians = good times. Unless you’re the stupid kids, then it’s probably not nearly as fun for you, I suppose. Which is yet another reason to embrace the carnage instead of fighting it.
Starring Frank Grillo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, and Carmen Ejogo.
