Russell Mulcahy to Give’em Hell, er, Malone
Give ‘Em Hell Malone (2009) Movie — By Nix on August 27, 2008
I guess if you needed your movie title to stand out, “Give’em Hell, Malone” (I’m assuming an exclamation point will be included in that title, or if it isn’t, then it really should — call me, movie studio people!) isn’t such a bad way to go. Or maybe it is. Hell, I’m not a bigtime Hollywood screenwriter, so what do I know. But I do know this: Moviehole is reporting that Russell Mulcahy (or as I like to refer to him, The Notoriously Hit and Miss Director Russell Mulcahy) has signed on to direct the action movie, set to star Thomas Jane (as Malone) and Ving Rhames (probably as a tough talking gangster — or as the kids call it, gangsta), with bad girl Michelle Rodriguez in talks to join.
More from Moviehole:
Now in pre-production in Spokane, Washington, the film tells of a a tough as nails private investigator (Malone, played by Jane) who squares off with gangsters and their thugs to protect a valuable secret. Malone goes through hell to protect the information but he dishes some hell as well.
Mulcahy’s track record is not kind. He burst onto the screen with “Highlander”, before giving us its Godawful sequel. More recently, Mulcahy has directed the entertaining-if-you-don’t-expect-too-much “Resident Evil: Extinction”, but he also directed the Godawful “The Scorpion King 2″. See what I mean about this guy being hit and miss?
Anyways, who wants to take bets that Rodriguez will play a no-shit taking, gun-packing, ass-kicking Latina momma with a bad attitude? What, no one? You guys suck.

Yeah, what would you know.
Russell Mulcahy directed those films but he didn’t write the story or the screenplay to them…. so why is he getting all the blame?
Right. Because the director has NOTHING whatsoever to do with a movie’s quality. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.
