Well this is one movie I probably won’t end up seeing. Anything that involves tight confines or heights is too much for my girly little stomach to take. But Ryan Reynolds’ latest sure sounds like it has the potential to be an intense thriller, though. The film in question is called “Buried”, and in it Reynolds will play a civilian contractor who’s kidnapped in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife. Those crazy Iraqis and their crazy schemes.
Variety says Spaniard Rodrigo Cortes (“The Contestant”) will direct the film from a script by Chris Sparling, and that shooting on the film is expected to begin this month in Barcelona, Spain. Most of the film will be Reynolds in the coffin, trying to make his way out, which will either keep you at the edge of your seat for the entire time, or get tedious after a while.
Reynolds’ most recent film is the romantic comedy “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock, which scored a surprisingly first place at the box office last week.
Peter Safran will produce “Buried” through his Safran Co. banner alongside Adrian Guerra of Spain-based Versus Entertainment.
