As you comic book movie nerds already know, Ryan Reynolds won’t exactly be wearing a skin-tight green suit for “Green Lantern”. Instead, he’ll be wearing something similar, but there will be a lot of other somethings all around him, namely, CGI stuff. Yup, Reynolds’ Green Lantern suit (and the suits of the other GL’s, we assume) will have the special assistance of CG put in later in post-production via motion capture suits. And speaking of which, here’s Reynolds on the film’s New Orleans set wearing just that, spotted by the boys at MTV.
Based on the popular D.C. Comics character, the film follows a human test pilot named Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) who is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers by a dying alien named Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison). Along with the power comes membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe called the Green Lantern Corp. Jordan learns his new job with the help of a veteran Green Lantern named Sinestro (Mark Strong), while facing a human villain in Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard).
“Green Lantern”, directed by Martin Campbell, takes flight June 17, 2011.
