Ryuhei Kitamura Returns to Horror with Teratoma
Horror Movie News, Teratoma Movie — By Nix on July 16, 2009
Ryuhei Kitamura isn’t going to let the awful experience of “Midnight Meat Train” stop him from trying to conquer the American horror scene, it would appear, because he’s just signed on to direct a new horror flick called “Teratoma” for the boys at JAZ Films and Neo Art & Logic. The latter company is run by Joel Soisson, the prolific producer/director of direct-to-DVD horror sequels to borderline successful franchises “Dracula 2000″, “Feast”, and “Pulse”, among many others. Soisson calls the film:
“Teratoma is The Fly meets Rosemary’s Baby.”
STYD says Kitamura, most famous to Western audiences for his cult zombie-Samurai-splatter action flick “Versus”, will be directing from a script by Jim Agnew and Sean Keller. The duo’s previous credits include Dario Argento’s “Giallo” and a pass on John Carpenter’s upcoming return to horror, “The Ward”.
Teratoma is a kind of tumor, and if you google it, well, it’s pretty disgusting stuff. Which means the movie version should be equally disturbing and more than a little disgusting. Sounds like fun!
No word on how “Teratoma” will affect Kitamura’s planned “Gun Monkeys”.
Below: “Listen, when I say more blood, I mean gallons and gallons of blood. Get it? And make sure it’s sticky!”
