Sally Field in Talks for Aunt May in Spidey Reboot

On the heels of yesterday’s news that former fake President Martin Sheen would be playing Uncle Ben in Marc Webb’s “Spider-Man” reboot for Sony/Columbia, comes this news that Sally Field (“Brothers and Sisters”) is in talks to play Aunt May, Spider-Man’s beloved Aunt. I guess they’re going with the spunky, young-ish aunt here, since last I checked, Field’s hair was still all dark. Unless she plans on whitening it up, of course.

Rosemary Harris played Aunt May in all three of Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” films. As you can see from their pics, the two women couldn’t be more different visually, and I assume, tonally as well.

Spider-Man aka Peter Parker will be played by Andrew Garfield (“The Social Network”), with Emma Stone (“Easy A” and “Zombieland”) as love interest Gwen Stacy, with Rhys Ifans playing the first villain, the Lizard.

Look for Spidey’s return in 2012.
