The last time Sam Raimi publicly mentioned that they were considering “Evil Dead 4″, we wait and wait and nothing happened. Then he said it again, and nothing happened again. Basically, Sam Raimi dangling “Evil Dead 4″ in front of our faces is getting mighty bloody old, and the dude should get on with the shit or stop with the dangling. Anyways, Sam Raimi recently dangled “Evil Dead 4″ yet again at the recent Comic Con in San Diego, where he was promoting his new movie “Drag Me to Hell”.
The boys at GeeksofDoom has Raimi saying this:
“I love working with Bruce Campbell and he’s like Allison [Lohman, star of Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell]. He’s super willing to do anything to make it right. He’s a very funny guy, but mostly he’s got this quality where he will physically do anything to get the shot done right, so I would love to work with Bruce again because I’d love to test those limits. I’d love to make another Evil Dead picture. And actually that’s in the wheelhouse. I’d like to work on it with my brother Ivan [Raimi] when he comes up next week.“
What the hell does “in the wheelhouse” mean, Sam? Are you messing with us again, man? You better not be messing with us again, man.
Anyways, what is the deal with directors talking about sequels today? First Craven and “Scream 4″, then Lucas and “Indy 5″, and now Raimi and “Evil Dead 4″… Is the idea of “original concept” THAT dead and buried in Hollywood nowadays???
Having said that, an “Evil Dead 4″ would be totes “groovy”. Although considering the state of Bruce Campbell vis-a-vis the show Burn Notice, Raimi better make this thing quick before Campbell gets to the point where the idea of “getting back in shape” for an “Evil Dead 4″ becomes an impossibility. I’m not saying the dude is out of shape, but I am saying I hardly recognize Ash in that beer gut.
