It feels kind of weird to see Sam Worthington in a movie where he’s not blowing holes in people or punching bad guys in the face to save the world. Nope. In Ben Nott and Morgan O’Neill’s “Drift”, it’s only killer waves he’s battling. That, and awful ’70s fashion. It’s definitely worth seeing if you’re a fan of Worthington and have always wanted to see him doing something other than the usual-usual.
Check out a new trailer and poster for “Drift” before it arrives Stateside very soon.
In the 70’s, two brothers battle killer waves, straight society and ruthless bikers to kick‐start the modern surf industry. After their mother escapes from Sydney to Margaret River in the 1970’s, the two Kelly brothers spend their youth searching for the perfect wave. Out of necessity the family launch a backyard surf business ‐ re‐thinking board design, crafting homemade wetsuits and selling merchandise out of their van. Battling big waves, small town conservatism and criminals, the brothers give rise to a global brand. A story of passion, corruption, friendship and loyalty, deadly addictions and fractured relationships, DRIFT tells a tale of courage and the will to survive at all odds.
Starring Myles Pollard, Xavier Samuel, and Sam Worthington.
Drifting onto On Demand next month July 2, 2013 before opening nationwide on August 2, 2013.
