Sam Worthington has signed on to star in “Salt” director Phillip Noyce’s “For the Dogs”, a film that would find the “Terminator Salvation” star playing “an assassin who agrees to help a bright college girl exact revenge on those who mercilessly murdered her parents and younger brother.”
Noyce will direct for FilmEngine Entertainment from a script by Oren Moverman, who adapted the novel of the same name by Kevin Wignall.
Worthington’s character will be one of those brooding hitman trying to get out of the business, but keeps getting pulled back in. Wignall’s novel is a bloody, fast-pace thriller, so expect the movie to be similarly action-packed.
Anthony Rhulen and Navid McIlhargey will produce.
Sam Worthington is coming off clunkers “Man on a Ledge” and “Wrath of the Titans”, but everything should be well in Worthingtonland once James Avatar gets “Avatar 2″ into production. And for you gamers out there, he is of course the voice of the lead character in the “Call of Duty: Black Ops” games.
