Having already conquered the world of big-budget Hollywood sci-fi/fantasy, Sam Worthington is now setting his sights on the comic book world. The Aussie has teamed up with Radical Studios to produce his own line of comics, with an eye towards turning them into movie projects that he would star in. It’s not exactly a new idea, and several other publishers have already paved the way, most notably Virgin Comics, who haven’t exactly found success turning their director-heavy comic book series (including titles by John Woo and Guy Ritchie) into movies.
The first Sam Worthington title out of the gate will be “Damaged”:
…centers on two brothers committed to justice in different ways — one inside the law, one violently beyond it. Now with the end of their careers approaching, they must train their replacements, hoping to remake them in their image. But the vigilante code has changed and the brothers are left unprepared for the true lawlessness and corruption that is about to be unleashed.
Regardless of whether the comic ever makes it onto the big screen or not, it’s got a pretty good chance at becoming a comic book series, especially with David Lapham (of “Stray Bullets” fame) writing it for Worthington and company.
