This is usually not something that peeks my interest, or even shows up on my daily radar, but since it stars Samuel L. Jackson and it has the makings of a goofy little comedy, why the heck not? It’s called “Man That Rocks the Cradle”, and Samuel L. Jackson plays a live-in nanny, aka a reputed “kid whisperer” from the South. The film is Jackson’s first for New Line Cinema through his Uppity Films shingle.

Bought as a spec script by Josh Cagan and based on a story by Cagan and Rob McKittrick, “Man That Rocks the Cradle” revolves around an overworked husband and father of four who decides the solution to all his problems is a live-in nanny. Jackson will play the nanny, Marion Delacroix, a reputed “kid whisperer” from the South.
Eh, it could be dumb fun. Why not?
While he’s busy with that, Jackson will also be dabbling in “Soul Men”, a road trip comedy for Dimension Films co-starring Bernic Mac.

The pair will play bickering backup soul singers who haven’t spoken in 20 years but reluctantly travel cross country together for a tribute concert to honor their famous former band leader.
Jackson and Mac will do their own musical and dancing performances for the film, which will begin production on Jan. 21. Script was written by Robert Ramsey and Matthew Stone, the team behind comedies “Intolerable Cruelty,” “Life” and “Man of the House.”
