Samuel L. Jackson is The Samaritan, Bitches!

Samuel L. Jackson is a hard working man. He’s still got his fingers in plenty of A-list Hollywood productions, but between “The Avengers” and Quentin Tarantino movies, my man can still crank out a B-action movie or two. We’ve already posted one of his films, the not-exactly thrilling looking (or sounding, to be perfectly honest with you) “Meeting Evil” (with Luke Wilson, natch), and here’s another one, “The Samaritan”. In the film, Jackson plays an ex-con who just wants to go straight but they keep pulling him back in. Yeah, nothing original here, folks, which is probably why you haven’t heard of the film until now.

After twenty-five years in prison, Foley is finished with the grifter’s life. When he meets an elusive young woman named Iris, the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan, the son of his former partner, has an ingenious plan and he wants Foley in. The harder Foley tries to escape his past, the tighter he is ensnared in Ethan’s web of secrets, until it becomes all too clear to Foley that some wrongs can never be made right.

The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Kirby, Ruth Negga, Tom Wilkinson, Deborah Kara Unger, and Martha Burns. David Weaver directs.

IFC Films is releasing “The Samaritan” on May 4th, 2012 (the same day that Jackson’s “The Avengers” comes out, coincidentally), but my guess is your best chance to catch it is probably on VOD either on that date, or before it.
