Sarah Michelle Gellar Still Doing McGee’s Alice?

Late last year Page Six ran an article that Lost star Maggie Grace had replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar as the star of the Marcus Nispel helmed movie adaptation of the videogame “American McGee’s Alice”. Not if SMG has anything to do with it. According to the former Buffy star, she still intends on starring in the movie.
Says SMG to Radio Free (via):
Hopefully. I mean, it’s a passion project of mine. It’s a story that I’d love to see. I’m fearful at this rate that I’m going to be the Queen of Hearts because I’m going to be too old to be Alice. [laughs] It’s something I’d really like to see done. And unfortunately, it was the victim of regime change in the studio. And I’m not getting out. And contrary to what you may have read, it’s still my project. [laughs] And I’m still working diligently. So to all those Alice fans, I’m not giving up. Because I believe there is such a beautiful, crazy, cool, twisted story to be told there. [jokes] And if I have to get down and write it myself one of these days, I may have to…

no way in hell would I ever want her in a haunting story as alice. Anyone but that untalented wannbe actress.
i think that only sarah michelle gellar is the perfect person to play the role of alice!! no other actress can be better. so sarah, plz, do it 4 all ur fans, DON’T GIVE UP!!!
i think the first comment is stupid sarah is the best in the world and i agree with andrew she is great in horrors and every gener i have eva seen her in she she great at wot she does and i cant wait 2 c this film and all her other upcome movies

I think shed definetly be better then Maggie Grace but i think there would be better choices out there, i think ashley olson would be perfect since she looks like a 10 yr old already and shes kinda creepy lookin lol or even that girl that played in the exorcism of emily rose… i dont think smg is innocent enough to play alice, even as fucked up as the game is alice still had an innocence to her, and i dont know if smg could really pull that off.
Sarah is perfect for the part. She’s playing a 19 year old not a 10 year old…and she is a great actress.

while Gellar is a strong actress, I dont think that she would be the best choice for alice. An unknown would be better I think. she is the “Slayer” already. If they stick her in a film of the same action/fantasy genre… it will be hard for many audience members to take the film on its own terms. its like ” hey, theres buffy fighting the mad hatter”
