Here’s some interesting news. Martin Scorsese is going to be directing a biopic based on the life and times of ol’ blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.
Now the only thing I’m wondering is, will Scorsese give this film the ‘Aviator’ treatment, or take it back to ‘Goodfellas’ territory? Nothing could be more boring to me than to see another generic biographical flick that does nothing innovative or exciting for the genre, so I certainly hope Mr. Scorsese takes some chances with this project. Quick editing, ingeniously placed musical cues and sharp witted (and of course potty-mouthed) dialogue are what I want to see. Give us the good stuff Martin, don’t hold back now!
The screenplay is being penned by the same guy who wrote ‘Field of Dreams’, Phil Alden Robinson, so it’s already shaping up to be a snoozer, but it’s too early to tell at this point. It will be distributed by Universal Pictures and Mandalay Pictures. No word yet on a release date.
